      Disposition:

    • STRONG SENSE OF JUSTICE - After Lisa is murdered by human hands and his father’s mind skews immediately towards revenge and anger, Alucard cannot bring himself to think in the same way as the latter. He pushes aside grief, temporarily, for the sake for remaining cool and clearheaded. His sense of justice, made evident by how he tries to reason with Dracula that he should only kill those responsible for Lisa's death, is brought to light during these moments. He’s rewarded for his troubles by engaging in a physical fight with him, one in which he loses, yet this still only illuminates another facet of his personality — that he’s willing to fight to save innocent lives, to do the right thing, and more importantly, to respect the memory of his mother, abiding by what she would’ve wanted. He also takes up guardianship of Castlevania and the Belmont Hold after the fact, harboring a responsibility to keep them safe, even if it meant he was to remain alone.

    • CHARMINGLY DISTANT - He has a sharp tongue that relies quite heavily on sarcasm, which Alucard sometimes utilizes in a blunt, unforgiving manner. There’s nothing warm or particularly friendly about the man; it’s true that he can be charismatic in the fluidity of his movements and spoken articulation, but none of it exists to consciously charm others. The charm of his demeanor is just a by-product of how he acts, speaks, and what he believes. Because as much as he is elegant and assured, he is also detached and emotionally distant. He will never be the first to engage in heartfelt conversation, he will never choose to be extroverted for the sake of it. With so much loss, Alucard harbors a deep loneliness — even after the defeat of his father, and the acquisition of two friends after a long journey, none of this abates. His friends leave on a journey together, and he is left with the remaining legacy of two families, the keeper of Dracula’s Castle and the Belmont Hold. Surrounded by memory and ghosts of the past, but moreover, still alone.

    • LONELY - This loneliness is exacerbated by grief, which he holds onto but never has a chance to truly process during the events of canon. Only after the fight is over and the day is won do we see him break down in his old home, overcome by sorrow after remembering the happier days of his childhood. This grief is still lingering in him, as well as the buried trauma of killing his own father — something which appears to clearly shake him moments after the fact — in which he has no one else to shoulder this burden with, and is left to process it on his own. It is part of why he finds the companionship with Taka and Sumi in season 3 so important to him; and why their betrayal stings terribly when they betray him.

    • YOUNG AND PETULANT - Alucard is not all seriousness and dark, steeping sorrow. He has something of a petulant side, implied through dialogue that he was bereft of a proper childhood, forced to grow up quickly. This is also taken literally, stating that as a dhampir, he physically developed and grew faster than a human. The result being this: Alucard is basically a teenager in an adult’s body, and he sometimes has pettish tendencies to match. If he meets someone he disagrees with, or otherwise does not get along with (such as Trevor when they were first acquainted with each other), his remarks can become imbued with sarcasm, and he’s not beyond exchanging scathing, somewhat childish insults with the other party. Foul language is not beyond this articulate tongue — he’ll be the first to tell someone to fuck off. He’s stubborn, reticent, and unkind to those who are rude to him.

    • LOYAL - Alucard isn’t unkind to those he’s close with, or even others who make an effort to know him. He has a wry sense of humor, quick to use it when the opportunity arises. He’s perpetually willing to help those who need it, and has a just and honorable heart. He’s smart and keenly curious (a trait stemming from the intellect of his father), and is just as observant. When someone has earned his trust, he is steadfastly loyal to them, and will do everything in his power to keep them safe and protected. When he cares, he cares deeply. And when he makes friends, they are friends that he will not hesitate to rely on, even if scaling emotional burdens always requires the input of extra effort on his part.

Suitability: Alucard comes from a fairly dark canon, with violent and stressful situations are not uncommon, given recent events. Alucard will find the transition very strange, a bit disorienting, but nonetheless a far more colorful and welcome place than what he is used to. This will help him mentally, I believe; last season, he is left likely having difficulty trusting strangers, and his character arc seems to be pushing down the path of closing himself up. Surrounding himself with strange people, in a strange place, will interrupt that -- instead, he will harbor mild distrust at the start, but garnering friendships and even romances where trust is necessary, much less a balm to his rather lonely soul, is something I look forward to.

    • Condition upon arrival: Alucard is healthy!

      Abilities:

    • DHAMPIR - All that you might expect from a dhampir's physiology. Super strength, speed, and with equally high endurance. Alucard is able to regenerate from injuries, as well, though larger ones are still more debilitating and require a longer resting period. He is also able to shapeshift into the form of a wolf or a bat (the latter implied by the show’s opening sequence).

    • LEVITATION- Alucard is able to float and levitate at will. He often utilizes this during battle, to the point where it might as well be categorized as flight, but as he’s never seen actually flying through the air outside of combat, I’m more comfortable with treating it as more float-y powers than flying powers.

    • TELEKINESIS - It’s implied that Alucard is able to move objects with his mind with ease. That being said, as this only applies to his sword in the show, I will mostly restrict him to using them in-tandem with his sword in-game, as allows.

    • SWORDSMANSHIP - Alucard is very capable with a sword. He is swift, cool-headed, and experienced in a fight. Utilizing his abilities atop his innate swordsmanship, he is one of the more skilled fighters in the series; able to defend himself from Trevor, for example, or against other enemies that would try to fell him.
